When it comes to my kids’ parties, I’m great at decorating! I can find almost anything I want from Amazon! However, when it comes to choosing the food to serve, I’m not so great. It always seems to be the hardest part of the party for me.
How do I keep all the food warm? Is there going to be enough food for everyone? Is the food going to taste good?
If you haven’t already caught on…I’m a worrier. However, as I have mentioned in my previous posts, I’m all for efficiency. Work smarter, not harder. It’s the best motto for life. In result, we ended up with the idea of a Trail Mix Bar and a Build Your Own Burger Bar. Who doesn’t love a good burger and some trail mix?
Sticking with my son’s construction theme, our guests had to “build” their burger. The few extra construction trucks were really a great addition!
There really isn’t anything easier than burgers…except catering. However, the burgers are much more cost efficient. I bought some of the already shaped burger patties, had most of the condiments already around the house, and quickly picked up some toppings.
When I have to plan two birthday parties and two sets of gifts at once, it can really take a toll on the bank account. I might be a bargain shopper, but birthdays definitely aren’t cheap.

Build Your Own Burger Bar Ingredients:

  • Ground beef patties (or turkey or veggie–you choose!)
  • Hamburger buns
  • Cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Onion
  • Mustard / Mayo / Ketchup
  • Guacamole (obsessed)

Place them out and have the guests walk though the line and build their burger with whatever they want. Then, have them hop over to the trail mix bar and their meal is complete…or, at least until cake.

Don’t forget all of your condiments!

This is a super cute addition to your tomatoes. Nothing beats a bulldozer scooping up some tomatoes.
