Hey Guys! I’m Nicole, a wife, a mom, and a teacher.
I went to college enthusiastic about earning a degree in Merchandising and becoming someone well-known in the fashion world. After the first semester, when one of my professors told me that “Merchandising majors do not wear sweat pants to class,” and that “People in the fashion industry work 90 hour work weeks,” I quickly changed my mind. Despite my best efforts…I ended up graduating from college with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I always wanted to become a teacher, but didn’t want to follow through because of salary. I was young and naïve. I quickly received my EC-6 certification, Math 4-8 certification, GT certification, and ESL certification. After a year of substituting (which requires a whole different post) and finally a year of teaching, I went back to school and earned my Master’s degree in Math Curriculum and Instruction.
I met my husband during my second semester of college, at the age of 18, fell in love, got married at age 22, and had two beautiful babies not long after. We have an almost three year old son and almost one year old daughter. My heart and soul are poured into these two children in hopes of making them successful individuals one day. Our son is brilliant (all moms say this about their children, but I really do believe it) and our daughter is a very opinionated young lady, even at such a young age. Neither pregnancy, nor parenthood, has been a walk in the park, but I would not change it for anything.
I spend my days as a full-time third grade teacher and full-time mom. I love everything about education, parenting, eating, and, if time permits, crafting. My forte revolves around education and children. The majority of my time is spent with my kids or focusing on ways to increase student achievement. I love cooking meals that are quick and easy, and with crafting, my intentions are better than the product.
Mary and I created this blog to hopefully share some of our interests and expertise. We are very different but also extremely alike. We have similar quirky habits and obsessions as you will soon find out. We are so excited for you to join us in our blogging journey!
