Baby’s first birthday is a huge milestone! Your little one is no longer a baby and now a toddler. Ahh! It is not only a milestone for baby, but also for you. You made it! I realize your child isn’t going to remember their party, but you will.

I worked so hard to hold an adorable party for Madison, just for the memories. Deciding what to do was one of the most difficult tasks. Not to mention, I am a bargain shopper. Spending a ton of money for one day was not my idea of fun. In the end, I decided a pink and gold first birthday party was perfect! Here are some ideas so you can also hold a cheap and amazing party.

Kid-Friendly Birthday Food

The food wasn’t all themed pink and gold like the decorations, as you’ll soon see.  I wanted food that people would enjoy eating, and since I have two kids…well, there’s only so much time to spend making food the day of.

Main Course…Pinwheels. We had turkey pinwheels, ham and cheese pinwheels, and chicken enchilada pinwheels. Overall, pinwheels are a quick and easy way to go.  And kids love them!

Sides…Fruit and dip. Always a good choice; everyone loves fruit. The dip is a cream cheese, cool whip mixture. Delicious and kind of healthy.  You can use strawberry cream cheese if you’d like as well to make it a pink color!

After snack…Pringles. I chose two different flavors I thought everyone would eat. By the end of the night, they were all gone. Once you pop, you can’t stop, right?

Pink and Gold Birthday Cakes and 1st Birthday Smash Cake

As I have mentioned previously, one of my favorite places to get birthday cakes is Wal-mart. They are by far the best tasting and cost efficient. If you tell them it is a first birthday, you get a free smash cake to go along with it. They are actually really cute, aren’t they?  I love how they’ll customize exactly what you want to make the cake.  I wanted a gold fondant bow with gold writing and a ribbon of light pink around the edges.

Pink and Gold Party Decorations

For all the decorations, I either ordered them off of Amazon or made them myself.

Table Decorations– These I made myself. They were easy to make and I was able to put them in her room for decoration after the party.  Here’s my DIY initial wreath tutorial.

I also made a DIY first birthday outfit for baby girl – a super cute gold one onesie that she wore for the party.

And that’s it!  Hope you enjoyed reading about her pink and gold first birthday party.  And since my children are born two days apart, it’s a busy birthday season for this Mom.  Here’s how my son’s monster-themed birthday party turned out this year!
