Preschool Teacher Christmas Gift Idea: DIY Fabric Bookmarks

With Christmas coming, it’s time to finish up my daughter’s preschool teacher gifts! I like to do something homemade and then throw in a small gift card.  Homemade items seem much more thoughtful, but with so many teachers, I can’t spend forever making gifts.  I also can’t spend a ton of money on gifts because there are so many people we have to get gifts for every Christmas between work, family, school, etc.  Come November, I’m starting to brainstorm the perfect preschool teacher Christmas gift idea.

Last Year’s End of School Year Teacher Gifts

Last year, for the end of the year, I decided to make my daughter’s music teacher and homeroom teachers little DIY fabric bookmarks and put them as a part of a larger summer gift.  Here is one of the finished products here:

The preschool teachers all seemed to enjoy the gifts and appreciated the uniqueness and thoughtfulness.  No one else gave them anything like this!

This Year’s Preschool Teacher Christmas Gift Idea

I decided again this year to make her new homeroom preschool teachers Christmas bookmarks as well as making one for the preschool “principal.”  I already posted my DIY fabric bookmark tutorial from last year, so take a look at it to follow along in making your own gift.  As an aside, this sewing project is also a great way to use up scrap fabric since these bookmarks don’t require much at all.

And here’s the finished Christmas gift bookmarks this year!  I picked a light blue Christmas fabric from Hobby Lobby with snowmen on it and used white, shiny rickrack on the top of the bookmarks.

Assembling the Teachers’ Gift Bundles

While the bookmark was the main homemade part of this gift, I thought it would be fun to add some other small items to make it into a cute bundle.

I paired the bookmarks with a journal and some fun fruit-scented pens (both from Dollar Tree!) I also added a small Starbucks gift card, because it was a perfect match to the coffee-themed journal that I selected.

 

Then, I put all these four goodies together with some ribbon and added a cute bow.  Something about packaging and organizing little pieces of gifts together can make things look even snazzier than they really are.
